2017 Will County Take Back the Night
Over the past 21 years, Take Back the Night has advocated for women who have suffered violence.
This year we have partnered with Reclaim13, an organization dedicated to freeing children from sexual exploitation and helping them reclaim a life of freedom, healing and hope. We believe this year’s speaker will not only resonate with young women but also highlight an ongoing issue in our community.
Many local women’s service organizations are involved in the event and their members serve on the committee. The event is a collaboration of six months of work by a committee of dedicated women who want to help educate the community in hopes of ending violence against women.
There will be a pantry accepting donations of paper goods, toiletry items, or grocery store and gas station gift cards to donate for use by our area domestic violence shelters.
Various organizations will be available at resource tables with information to assist victims and/or their survivors. This has been a long time tradition of the event. It is the intent of the committee to educate the community, by providing resources that are available to help those that need assistance and to inform the community of the programs and services which are available should the need arise.
