Iowa APSE Day on the Hill 2018
It is more important than ever to talk to your legislators about supporting Iowans with disabilities to find and maintain employment!
The 2018 Day on the Hill provides you the unique opportunity to travel to Des Moines, IA for an afternoon of legislative insight and networking with colleagues and legislators. We will be sending information before the event about how to make the most of this day!
The day of the event schedule looks as follows:
12:00-12:45 pm: Advocacy training event at Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS). They have free parking and we will have Rik Shannon, Public Policy Manager with Iowa DD Council, to present.
1:00 pm: We will walk over to the Capitol. Legislators will be walking by between meetings and cookies and coffee will be available for all participants.
4:00 pm: 2018 APSE Day on the Hill wraps up!
Visit the Iowa APSE website to see the 2018 Day on the Hill participant guide! It walks through actions you should take before, during, and after the event to make your voice heard.
Reach out to your legislators before the event! Request a meeting with them or their primary staffers! This will help to make the biggest impact with our legislators.
Look at infoNet’s website. They have fantastic resources about different policy issues, a 2018 Guide to the Legislature, a bill tracker, and an advocacy training guide.
