Oakland A’s Game to Benefit Think College Now


Baseball + Charity = Grand Slam

Come join the United Democratic Club as we cheer on the Oakland A’s to benefit Think College Now (TCN), an Oakland-based school that helps children and teens follow their dreams of attending college. The A’s are donating a portion of ticket sales from the game to TCN.

• UDC MEMBERS: $15 includes 1 game ticket (face value $20; UDC covers $5 of the ticket price)
• NON-MEMBERS: $25 includes 1 game ticket and 1 year membership to the UDC (great deal for non-UDC friends!)


All tickets have a face value of $20 which benefits Think College Now.

Game Details:
• Meet at the Montgomery BART station at 5 PM.
• We’ll all to ride over to the Coliseum together.
• Whoever shows up wearing the most A’s flare will get 2 free drink tickets, so let’s represent the Bay Area!
• Game is against the Astros

About Think College Now:
In 2003, less than one in 20 high school students in the Oakland Unified School District was eligible to attend a University of California school. When TCN opened, a core of committed parents realized their goal of opening a public elementary school focused on closing the achievement gap and giving all students an equal opportunity to attend college and pursue their dreams.

Program Demographics
• 300 students, kindergarten through 5th grade
• 68% Latino, 13% African-American, 8% Asian-American, 1% White, 10% Multi-Ethnic
• 57% English-language learners
• 95% at or near the poverty line, receiving subsidized or reduced-price lunches
• Located in the Cesar Chavez Education Center (Oakland’s first new school building in 30 years) in Oakland’s diverse Fruitvale community
