March for Science: Hartford, CT
This is the official event page for the HARTFORD, CT local gathering in cooperation with the March for Science on Washington DC on April 22, 2017.
We are the local chapter of a national movement planning to gather in our states’ capital cities across the country on Earth Day, April 22nd at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza. Our message is a non-partisan celebration of science and empiricism. In tumultuous times, when everything seems to be an opportunity for partisan divide, we aim to show that science is not an issue that separates people or politicians on either side of the aisle. We can all unify behind the precept that observation, deduction, reproducible results, and peer-review mark the pinnacle of human intellect and that the scientific method is what has created our way of life as we know it today. It will be what makes our tomorrow even better.
We are scientists and science enthusiasts. We come from all races, all religions, all gender identities, all sexual orientations, all abilities, all socioeconomic backgrounds, all political perspectives, and all nationalities. What unites us is a love of science, and an insatiable curiosity. We all recognize that science is everywhere and affects everyone. Join us this Earth Day April 22nd, as we celebrate science. We will have some of Connecticut’s prominent scientists speak, children from local schools give poster presentations of their scientific work, interactive experiences for the whole family put on by local organizations, and more.
We welcome anyone who has suggestions to offer or who would like to volunteer with us. Please help us spread the word by LIKING & SHARING our page! Just like science, our results will be most statistically significant with a larger n! Please feel free to invite friends, family, and other fellow science lovers, whether they are career scientists or science enthusiasts!:)
