Media Integrity in an Age of Fake News

October general meeting will feature KCUR-FM’s Sam Zeff and
The Kansas City Star’s Derek Donovan.

Sam reports education news for KCUR and the Kansas News Service. Before moving home to Overland Park, he covered organized crime, politics and government corruption for WHYY in Philadelphia. Sam has won a National News and Documentary Emmy for investigative reporting, four Edward R. Murrow awards and four National Headliner Awards.

As the Star’s longtime public editor (ombudsman), Derek gave voice to readers’ concerns about accuracy and fairness in news coverage. That role expanded to include oversight of the Star’s primary social media accounts. For six years prior to that, Derek oversaw the newsroom’s research operations.

Coffee is on at 8:30 for social time.
Program starts at 9:00.
