Guest Speaker Katherine Everhart

Please make plans to join Indivisible Greene County for our biweekly social meeting. The social hour begins at 4 p.m. with a Dutch treat meal at the Phat Cat Cafe followed by our guest speaker at 5 p.m.

Katherine Everhart is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Tusculum College. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, she completed her Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University.

Most recently, she was a Lecturer at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Her research focuses issues of race, class, and gender; as well as, protest and social movements. Her dissertation focused on the use of art and culture within the case of the University of Puerto Rico student occupation of 2010.

More recently, she has turned her attention to exploring the intersection of black feminism and the role of allies within the Black Lives Matter movement. She teaches courses on race and ethnic relations, gender and sexuality, and one of her favorites so far—a course entitled: I Woke Up Like This: Black Feminisms of Beyonce and Nicki Minaj.
