Documentary & Discussion: The Education of Mohammad Hussein

From April through August 2017, UUCLV will present a documentary and discussion series on racial justice-themed topics.

Join us on May 4, from 6-9 p.m. as we view and discuss the HBO Documentary, “The Education of Monammad Hussein.”

There is an entire generation of American Muslim children who do not know a world before September 11th. They have not experienced a country largely unaware of or neutral about Islam. Instead, their faith is scrutinized and patriotism questioned, even before they can grasp these very adult concepts. This film takes the viewer inside a tightly knit Muslim community in the economically depressed Detroit-Hamtramck neighborhood and gives a quietly searing view of a post 9-11 America that is struggling to live up to its promise of tolerance and civil justice for all.

After the viewing, our friends at Showing Up for Racial Justice will facilitate a discussion on the topics raised by the documentary, and will provide additional resources fro those intereseted in learning more.

There is no cost for the film viewing and discussion. Childcare and concessions are available for a donation. We are located at 3616 E. Lake Mead Blvd, just East of the intersection at Pecos.
