Drinks & Discourse (Family Edition) Building a Mighty Village
Join Reclaim Chicago for our first ever family addition of Drinks & Discourse (coffee & playdate). Many of us squeeze our political activity in between daycare drop off, an 8+ hour work day and all the routines that come with a family and kids.
We know first hand the consequenes of the disinvestment from our community schools, the lack of affordable safe daycare and the crumbling infrastructure, the impossible cost of higher education and a declining job market for our children to have opportunities in (Just to know a few) — many of us lose sleep over these realities and the affects it has on our kids and our ability to keep them safe and cared for.
Election cycle after election cycle these issues are paid lip service but year after year we see more disinvestment from the public goods we need for our neighborhoods and our kids to thrive. And as it gets harder and harder often times we get more and more isolated in our fight to keep our heads above water.
If you are a parent, a care giver or a person who cares about these issues please join us on October 22nd from 11:00-1:00 to talk about what building indepent political power as parents and care givers could look like, and how we can build support and community for ourselves and our kids in the process.
Childcare will be provided as well as snacks & coffee. Location TBD soon!
