Indiana SB 285 – Obstructs mass gatherings and protests.
SB 285: Traffic obstruction by protestors. Defines “mass traffic obstruction” and “responsible public official”. Requires a responsible public official to, not later than 15 minutes after the responsible public official learns of a mass traffic obstruction, dispatch all available law enforcement personnel with instructions to clear the roads of persons unlawfully obstructing vehicular traffic.
From Indy Feminists: SB 285 is a violation of Hoosiers’ First Amendment rights as guaranteed by the Consitution — “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” It calls for any gathering of 10 or more people that may block traffic to be removed “by any means necessary”. This is how they will criminalize any resistance to their governance.
Bill will be heard in front of the Senate Committee on Local Government WEDNESDAY 1/18 at 1:30 PM.
