Sioux County Democrats “Plain Conversation” with Sen. Rob Hogg
Rob Hogg, Iowa state senator from Cedar Rapids and the Senate Democratic Leader, will speak at the next Plain Conversation, Saturday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m. in the Terrace Room of Dordt College’s Campus Center.
Hogg will provide an introduction to Iowa state government, review the 2017 legislative session, and discuss prospects for 2018. A Cedar Rapids attorney, he is currently serving his third term as state senator for Senate District 33 after two terms as a state representative in the Iowa House. In 2016 he ran for the United States Senate, finishing second in a four-way race in the Democratic primary. In November 2016, he was unanimously elected as the Democratic leader of the Iowa Senate.
In the Iowa legislature, Hogg has served on the education, judiciary, public safety, natural resources, energy, environmental protection, appropriations, and ways and means committees. He also was chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, chair of the Senate Government Oversight Committee, and chair of the Senate Rebuild Iowa Committee after the devastating floods and tornadoes of 2008.
Plain Conversation is a regular series sponsored by the Sioux County Democrats to educate voters about issues facing the U.S. and world. The public is invited.
